Greetings,
What’s in a name? ‘A rose by any other name would smell as sweet’ is a well-known quote from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. It means that the essence or nature of something is not changed by its name. However, to my way of thinking, a name ends up holding some of the essence of the very thing it names.
This week more suggestions for our new Congregation name have been suggested. Thanks to everyone who has contributed. This is an important step for us as we move into life as a new community. I wonder what community foundations will become associated with our new name? Will it be our open spirit, generous welcome, faithful worship or inclusive community space?
As we consider the new names before us, let us not forget the reason we come together each Sunday to worship, and let’s reflect on our calling to live as God’s faithful people within the local community.
Blessings – Heather Hon (she/her)
