JOINT NOMINATING COMMITTEE (JNC) MEMBERS NEEDED
As we continue the important journey of seeking a new minister for Koonung Heights, as a congregation we now need to consider appointing members of the Joint Nominating Committee (JNC). The JNC is a key part of the process of discerning God’s leading for our next minister. The committee will consist of up to six members of our congregation, working alongside two Presbytery appointed liaison representatives. All conversations and processes of the JNC are strictly confidential and must not be discussed outside the committee. The role of the JNC is to receive ministerial profiles provided by the Synod Placement Committee and carefully consider each candidate through prayer, discussion, and discernment.

Committee members will have opportunities to meet and talk with potential ministers, both formally and informally, and may visit ministers in their current placements. Through the process, the JNC seeks to identify whether a minister should be recommended to the congregation as a candidate to call. Sometimes the right person is identified from the first group of names provided and the process moves relatively quickly. At other times, the committee may request additional recommendations from the Synod Placements Committee and continue its discernment. Serving on the JNC requires a commitment for the duration of the search process. Members will need to be available for meetings, both online and in person, at times agreed upon by the committee. We are seeking people who can represent the vision, mission, values, and priorities of Koonung Heights, and who will engage prayerfully and thoughtfully in this important work. A diversity of perspectives and experiences within the committee would be greatly valued.

We encourage you to prayerfully consider whether God may be calling you to serve in this way. You may also wish to encourage someone else in our congregation whose gifts, skills and wisdom would be a blessing in the process. If you would like more information, or if you are willing to be nominated, please speak with me or any member of Church Council by Monday 31 August. The congregation will be asked to confirm the appointment of JNC members at a Congregational Meeting Sunday 27 September. Kathryn D’Alessandro

CAN YOU COOK A MEAL PLEASE?
One of the young mums in Sunday School has had a serious injury to her knee. She is getting around in a wheelchair while awaiting surgery. It would be a great help to her and her husband if we can provide meals for her family (of 4) until she is back on her feet again. Suggested meals are: mac and cheese, lasagna, mild chicken pasta bake, meatballs with pasta, creamy chicken pasta, mild chicken curry with rice, fried rice. No shellfish in anything please. If you are able to provide a meal, please put into a plastic take-away container labelled with ingredients and your initials. They can be placed in our church freezer or picked up from you. Please talk to Voon if you have any queries (Mobile: 0404807945). Your support will be much appreciated.
