HELP MAKE HOPE REAL!
The Hope Food Drive is on! Please do pick up one or more blue bags after church and fill them with as many non-perishable goods as you wish. Then return them to the church by Sunday 3 May. The goods purchased go to many food charities in Boroondara, including BCO, and beyond. With the current cost of living crisis, food charities are being visited by people who never needed them before. Any small or large donation you can make will help.
Desired items are: tinned fish of any kind; pasta and pasta sauce; muesli bars/fruit bars; fruit cups/tinned fruit; savoury/sweet biscuits; 2 min noodles; spreads; soup – tinned or cup of; cooking oil; rice; coffee/tea/hot chocolate; toothpaste/tooth brushes; shampoo/conditioners; laundry powder.
COFFEE AND CRAFT
The next Coffee and Craft catch up will be on Saturday 25 April, 2-4pm in the Fellowship room. All welcome.
SCAR TREE WALK – SATURDAY 9 MAY
This will be a joint venture with the Bushwalking Group and the Social Justice Committee. The Scar Tree Walk is from Federation Square to Yarra Park, with an expert Koorie guide telling about the significance of this area to Naam’s first inhabitants. We can meet at Union Station Platform 1 at 9.05am (catch the 9.13am train), or at Flinders Street Station at 9.45am or at the Koorie Heritage Trust at 9.55am. Our walk will commence at 10am. We will begin with a half hour talk and viewing of artefacts in the Koorie Heritage Trust building, before beginning the walk. It is approximately 1.25 km to the Scar Tree, along the Yarra Rivier. The cost is $35 per person to pay for the guide and to help the KHT, which is a not-for-profit organisation. To enable everyone to take part, we are asking each person to pay at least $15, with donors willing to pick up any shortfall. We can only be a group of 30, so please let Voon know ASAP if you would like to come and where you will meet us (email: gvstokie@gmail.com; Mobile 0404807945). Payment can be made on the day by cash or PayID.

HELP NEEDED AT BCO
BCO is undergoing renovations and has temporarily relocated to the old Manse in Highbury Grove, Kew. Whilst all the usual organised activities still go on in the Kew manse, meal preparations are carried out in two venues, in Kew and Auburn Uniting Church, Hawthorn. On Thursdays our church team is in Auburn UC which has a bigger kitchen. We help prepare large numbers of meals to fill the freezer at BCO. In the smaller kitchen in Kew, meals are prepared for the activity participants on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The meals to be prepared at the two venues means that more volunteers are needed to help in both the kitchens, especially Kew on Tuesday and Thursdays. Please speak with Voon if you think you can help or if you have any questions.
