Greetings,
By the time that you read this I will be on a few days Study Leave … in fact this is the last
task I have to complete. Some have wished me well for a good holiday and while I’m
thankful, and it is a short break away from Koonung Heights, it’s not actually a holiday.
As always, it seems that there are lots of things to do, and among those I am conscious that I really need to get some work done on my Thesis.
While thinking about that I was reflecting on the fact that many of us are busy. If you are
like me there are certain commitments and other tasks that you aim to complete each day.
Often I have a task list that I create the night before so I know where to start the next day
… and I’m really excited if I get through the whole list.
Of course some days I don’t get through the list … none of us do. What’s important is to
remember that that is okay too. We can’t always complete all the tasks that we set
ourselves, and we need to be kind with ourselves during the times when there is more
pressure.
Sometimes the busy-ness of life can crowd in and we don’t take the time to be still and
listen. The thing that I have found over the years is that however busy things can become,
it is important to take time out to be still. I love times when I can walk quietly and listen
to the sounds of nature, something I don’t do enough.
I invite you all to take some time over the next week, some time to stop, walk quietly and
listen.
I would like to leave you with this prayer …
O Lord, make us quiet before you:
Quiet enough to discern the paths our feet must tread;
Quiet enough to hear Your voice;
Quiet enough to realise that in Your will is our peace;
And that You will never leave us without guidance;
Never leave us desolate.
We ask this is the name of the One who said, “My peace I give
to you”.
Amen.
Blessings – Rev Heather.
