Welcome to Koonung Heights Uniting Church

2020, 16th August

Greetings …
This week I was blessed to receive a letter which was sent to ministers in our Presbytery to thank us for the work we have been doing, and to encourage us to make sure that we all take care of ourselves.
It is important to take care of ourselves at all times, but when we are under extra pressure this is even more important, and in this time of Covid-19, we need to do more than just wash our hands and wear our masks. We need to make some time each day to make sure that we care for
ourselves … going for a walk, reading a good book, listening to a favourite piece of music are just some of the things that can make a difference.
This letter also included a prayer written by Rev Erin Counihan and based on Psalm 119.
It acknowledges some of our fear and uncertainty as well as our hope, and I’d like to share
it with you.
Your word is a lamp to my feet, Lord.
Your word is a light to my path.
Though the world around tosses and tumbles,
I hold fast to you.
Though I have doubts and worries and I wonder,
I hold fast to you.
Though my heart hurts, my spirit aches, and I lose my way,
I hold fast to you.
Though I encounter wickedness and hate seemingly around every corner,
I hold fast to you.
Your stories and your songs, O Lord – they comfort me.
Your will and your way, O Lord – they nudge me along.
Your presence and your promise, O Lord – they give me hope.
Your world is my heritage and my heart.
And I will turn toward you forever.
I will hold fast to you.
And I will sing praises to your name!
Amen

As we make sure to take care of ourselves, may we remember the One who always cares for us, the One whose presence and promise gives us hope.
Blessings – Heather.
