Greetings …
… and welcome to the first Community News of Activities are beginning again, so please make sure that you have a read of what’s going on and mark any significant dates in your diary. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that “those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength”. I hope that after Christmas and the New Year you are feeling refreshed and ready to embrace 2021, renewed in God’s strength.
As we know from last year, we cannot ever fully imagine what each year will bring with it, but it is exciting to journey together and discover what God has been planning for this community.
“They shall mount up with wings like eagles” … I have always thought that if I hadn’t been born a human, it would have been a good option to have been an eagle. Eagles seem to be content with their own space and find stunning out of the way places to live. They are so majestic and powerful as they fly, and they have a clarity of vision that allows them to view an entire landscape while at the same time being able to focus in on the smallest detail. They can stay airborne for a good amount of time and seem to do so effortlessly.
While the flight of an eagle looks effortless, it is the invisible thermal currents that enable the graceful soaring. As the air moves over and under the wings, the eagle is supported in its journey.
I think the Spirit of God is a little like this. While it is not something we can physically see, we can feel the Spirit supporting us just like the eagle feels the thermal currents support its flight. When we are not alone in the journey we might even find that we can “run and not be weary, … walk and not faint.”
Blessings – Heather.
