Greetings,
What’s going on … with the weather, the pandemic, our politicians, climate change and countless other things? What’s going on? We live in times that can be puzzling. We might be disturbed, or even frightened, by some of the things we see going on around us. We have lots of questions but can’t always find the answers we are seeking.
The disciples were worried too, especially when Jesus earthly ministry was coming to an end. They didn’t understand everything that was happening, and had lots of questions. As Jesus talked with them he shared parables and gave them signs – stories about trees, signs in the sea and sky. Most importantly, Jesus encouraged the disciples to keep their eyes open and to keep praying.
In Australia we enter Advent around the same time that we feel the weather get hotter. As the summer season comes upon us, many in our country watch intently for what this increase in temperature might bring with it.
During this Advent, may we not only watch the weather forecasts, but may our eyes also watch for the signs of God’s activity. May we look out for signs of love, life and wonder as we wait and pray. May we continue to shine God’s light where we can, and know that as we wait, we are not waiting in vain.
Lift up the Advent cry,
Shout for the world to hear:
‘God has sent out his Word –
hope, joy and life are near!’
Those watching will not wait in vain –
Emmanuel comes to bring God’s reign!

Blessings – Heather.
