Greetings …
If you have been following the weekly readings, you will know that the book of Job has been featured over the last little while. We haven’t been reflecting on Job during Sunday worship, but I came across this poem as I was reading this week. It is written as a response to Job 38:1-7, 34-41 and resonated a little with how I have been feeling this past week.
Cosmic Embrace
Robotic spacecraft
exploring new horizons,
expand what we know.
Submersible craft,
mass-spectrometers,
reveal hidden mysteries.
Every breakthrough
begs more deeply exploring
the world’s foundations.
We try to measure
length, breadth, depth of all that is:
we are confounded
When distress visits,
dark, all-consuming, it clouds
that cosmis vastness.
Yet in my distress
the mystery we name God
is embracing me.
