I found this book thought provoking and uplifting. Rob Bell tackles the once universal belief that God will punish sinners and unbelievers with eternal torment in hell. To quote from the preface, Bell writes “First, I believe that Jesus’s story is first and foremost about the love of God for every single one of us. It is a stunning, beautiful, expansive love, and it is for everyone, everywhere.”

The book examines prevalent ideas about heaven and hell, about who is “in” and who is “out” is it were and relates these to the words and actions of Jesus. So many harsh interpretations damn people who have walked away from the church just because of this.

The author’s thesis is that love wins and the love of God is for every created thing is convincing and challenges us to show the same all encompassing love.
