Welcome to Koonung Heights Uniting Church

2020, 1st March

Greetings …
Lent has begun and we are now on the journey. Let us continue to reflect using the words
of Psalm 51. 2nd Wednesday of Lent – 4 March – Psalm 51:4
“You are justified when you judge”

There are two ways we can see everything. If you stand on a headland facing out to sea,
you can see the waves, the flow of the water and feel that all is constantly changing … or
you can look at the sea and see how constant it is, feeling secure in the rock beneath your
feet. It is about understanding that there is a deep order that lies beneath everything … an
order and consistency that we find with God. Whatever is going on in our lives, God is
constant. He holds justice in his hands.

2nd Sunday of Lent – 8 March – Psalm 51:6
“You taught me wisdom”

The world tells us that we are wise, yet if we fall into this trap we are misguided. Someone once said that wisdom comes from knowing that there is so much more we don’t know. The one who is really wise is God. David, the psalmist, has come to recognise that God has a desire for every moment of his life, every cell of his being from the moment he first came into being in his mother’s womb. God desires that we are faithful and longs for us to be whole. What a blessing to be loved by such a God.
