Welcome to Koonung Heights Uniting Church

2020, 5th April

Greetings …
I wanted to begin this greeting by thanking all those who have sent emails or phoned
expressing their thanks for the Worship Liturgy that has been circulated each week. It has
been wonderful to receive these messages and appropriate that all those who have been
involved share in this thanks. Whether it has been writing prayers, having conversations,
providing illustrations, getting things to print early, addressing envelopes or delivering to
mail boxes, it has definitely been a team effort. So … thanks team … for caring for one
another.

7th Wednesday of Lent – 8 April – Psalm 107:1
“Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever.”
What a blessing these words are. They remind us that the goodness of God isn’t something that flashes in and out of our lives like lightening, here one minute and gone the next, but that it is continually present.
God was good in times past; God is good now; God will be good in the future; God is good always and forever. God’s goodness does not mean that there will always be a quick fix, but it does mean that the One who loves us is always there; ready to wrap us in a warm embrace.

Maundy Thursday – 9 April – Psalm 103:8
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious; slow to anger, abounding in love.”
If you are compassionate you are able to enter into the experience or suffering with another person. This is the kind of love that God has for us – a love that suffers with us and suffers for us, the beloved. It is a love that lasts forever, through pain, suffering and even death. On the Thursday before he died Jesus loved like a servant, washing the feet of his disciples. Jesus served them and loved them. Jesus served us and loved us when he stretched out his arms on the cross. Blessings – Rev. Heather
