Welcome to Koonung Heights Uniting Church

2020, 6th September

Greetings …
Spring is here, the grass is riz – I wonder where the flowers is
The little bird is on the wing – But that’s absurd, the wing is on the bird.

I remember my Dad saying this verse when I was a little girl. It always struck me as being a happy verse.
Spring is here, the trees are budding and the breezes are warmer. We are starting to see colour in our gardens and parks as we have our daily walk. The bees are visiting collecting nectar and our little pockets of creation are coming to life. I find watching this new life emerge to be very hopeful, and this puts a smile on my face.
For the month of September we are going to be looking at what is called the Season of Creation, with a focus on Forest, Land, Wilderness/Outback and River. This is an opportunity to spend some time thinking about the whole of creation and also to focus on the ecological crisis that has come about because of the way that we treat the earth.
The hope is that while engaging with God’s creation as we worship, we might begin to find ways to heal our planet. I hope that you will join me in this journey which encourages us to remember that we are called to serve and sustain life and recognise how creation serves and sustains life.
I am hoping that we might be able to share stories in this time, so if you have something that you would particularly like to contribute to one of these weeks please feel free to get in touch.
Blessings – Heather.
