Greetings …

The Church Council shall give priority in its life to building up the Congregation in faith and love, sustaining its members in hope and leading the Congregation to a fuller participation in Christ’s mission in the world.  This priority shall be reflected in the agenda of its ordinary meetings. – Regulation 3.1.2(a)

These words are the first that Elders read when they look at the agenda for the monthly Church Council meeting.  They are placed at the very top of the agenda for a good reason, to remind each Elder of the role that they are called to take on within the church community.

Each one of us are called to serve, but those who take on the role of Elder take on a special ministry of spiritual oversight which can be shared in many ways including pastoral care, assisting in worship, decision making and administration.

This Sunday, 14 August, we will commission those who have been elected by our church community to the role of Elder.  Fraser Clark has been elected as an Elder for the first time, and Phillip Carrington, Malcolm Williamson and Harriet Zeigler have been elected to serve another term.

I wish to thank them all for their willingness to serve in this way, and my hope is that each one will feel blessed in this role.  I know that will certainly be a blessing to us.

I invite you to keep all the elders of our congregation in your prayers as they serve our community.
