Welcome to Koonung Heights Uniting Church

2022, 21st August

Greetings …

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in the sanctuary;
   praise God in the mighty firmament!
Praise God for those mighty deeds;
   praise God according to that surpassing greatness!
Praise God with trumpet sound;
   praise God with lute and harp!
Praise God with tambourine and dance;
   praise with strings and pipe!
Praise God with clanging cymbals;
   praise with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord.
(Psalm 150 NRSV – adapted)

Psalm 150 reminds us of the call to all living things to praise God.  Praising God for who God is and for what God has done.  Sometimes we praise God alone – it might happen when we observe the beauty of nature, when we see the promise in a new life, or the grace of lived experience in a wrinkled hand.  It might be when we see justice prevail.

There are also moments when we are called to praise God when we are gathered together.  Worship is one such time for Koonung Heights community.

This week you are receiving a paper that encourages you, and each one of us, to think about our music and worship now and into the future.  As Ray said last week during Community News, our organ needs repair and this provides the opportunity for a broader piece of discernment.  Please give thought and prayerful discernment to this paper, and to your answers to the questionnaire you are asked to complete.

Blessings – Heather.
