Welcome to Koonung Heights Uniting Church

2023, 27th August

Greetings …

If you know me at all you will know that I love words, especially when they are used well.  Words are powerful … they can uplift and encourage as well as exclude and demean … so it is important that we use our words well.  We shouldn’t exclude people by using language they don’t understand, but do all that we can to speak and listen attentively, asking for clarification and explaining things when we need to.  When we do that the communication can be so much more effective.

Positive affirmations, when they are shared with respect and care, help us thrive in life.  They can give us a sense of who we are and what gifts and skills we have to offer.  This week I came across the following verse which I found to be so affirming.

          God loves you perfectly;
          God forgives you completely;
          God cares for you constantly.

I let that sit with me … I am loved perfectly: this love is not dependent on me or what I have or have not done but is love that comes from God who is love itself.  I am forgiven completely: no matter the things I have done or not done, intentionally or otherwise, they are not held against me and I am free to begin anew.  I am cared for constantly:  at all times, not just when it is convenient or when I’m easy to care for.

God loves you perfectly, forgives you completely and cares for you constantly. My prayer for you is that in the week ahead you might sit with this affirmation.  Let it sink deep into the centre of your being.  Feel it in your heart.  Know it in your mind.

Perfectly, completely, constantly.

Blessings – Heather (she/her).
