Greetings …
Faith is important to us but sometimes we find it hard share this with others. We find it hard to speak about because we worry that we don’t know enough or have the right words to say. May be we are concerned that others will laugh at us when we share what we believe. It has been this way since the days of the early church, with the author of 1 Peter encouraging the church to ‘not be intimidated’ but be ready to account for the hope that is in you’.
The hope that we have in Christ is a hope that the whole world needs. Using the following prayer (written by Rev Dr Sally Douglas) let us pray that we might be able to share this hope with others.
Holy One- Sacred Three
Ground of our being,
water of life,
fire of truth,
we give thanks for this day:
for rain and sun
for friends and laughter
and for you – who weep with us when we weep.
You are our source and our homecoming,
you dwell in mystery.
Yet in Jesus you make camp with us in person,
Nourishing us into your life.
In Spirit you are as close as our breathing,
Challenging, liberating, and kindling love within us.
When we freeze and do not speak about our faith in you
Forgive us and loosen our tongues.
When we feel no hope but are afraid to tell you
draw us into your tender arms.
When we speak rudely or arrogantly to others
Change us, turn us around, and make us gentle like you.
Through Jesus the Word, bright morning star, we pray.
Amen.
May Jesus Christ continue to bring hope to your heart.
Blessings – Heather (she/her).
