Greetings …
The following came across my desk this week …
Hate has 4 letters, so does Love.
Enemies has 7 letters, so does Friends.
Lying has 5 letters, so does Truth.
Negative has 8 letters, so does Positive.
Cry has 3 letters, so does Joy.
Anger has 5 letters, so does Happy.
Hurt has 4 letters, so does Heal.
The list went on, ending with the shared wisdom that life is a double-edged sword and that we should transform negatives into positives always choosing the better side of life.
As I thought about this I wondered why the author had chosen to list Hate before Love and what they were trying to say with this choice. Was it about a hope to move to something better?
At the same time I was reminded of Ecclesiastes 3:1 – For everything there is a season, and a time for ever matter under heaven. (You might remember that this verse was part of the Act2 video we shared last Sunday.) The seasons we go through are often not of our own making. There are times of joy and sorrow, plenty and scarcity – good and not-so-good seasons.
I think the best choice we have is how we respond to the season we are in, and that choice is made easier if we are able to claim as ours the reality that God is with us in all the seasons.
May you continue to know God’s constant presence in your journey.
Blessings – Heather (she/her).
