Greetings …
My offering today is a poem called Compass, based on Jeremiah 17:5-10, and written by Jeff Shrowder. It speaks into blessings and woes in our context.
Cursed are those enslaved
by technology, selfies,
social media;
elbowing their way
every upward to ‘success’
on a false summit;
wanting ‘next year’s’ now,
to discard it unfulfilled,
for another fad.
Blessed are those who stop,
take time to smell the roses,
gaze at the cosmos;
welcome the unknown
and rejoice in the ‘other’,
curious to learn;
their moral compass,
conscience, (such deep mystery)
guiding day by day.
My prayer is that you might remain curious to learn, and encounter far more blessings than woes.
Blessings – Rev Heather Hon (she/her).
