Greetings,
When I was a child, I used to learn a new grace every year. It became a tradition that the new grace
would be said the first time for my Mama’s birthday. The grace that sticks with me, probably
because it was the one I learnt for her last birthday, goes like this: –
Thank you for the world so sweet, thank you for the food we eat,
thank you for the birds that sing, thank you, God, for everything!
These are easy words of thanks for a child to learn. As I was reflecting on this during the week, I
wondered why it’s not always so easy to give thanks now. Is it because, as an adult, different things
become top of mind, a list of priorities that need to be attended to, so much so that I don’t even
notice the birds that sing so I don’t give thanks for them?
As you move through the week ahead, I encourage you to embrace gratitude, finding one thing
that you can give thanks for each day. Blessings – Heather Hon (she/her)
