Welcome to Koonung Heights Uniting Church

2025, 21st December

Greetings to the Koonung Heights Community,
Over Advent, when we support Christmas Bowl, Peta Lowe has been sharing some stories about how this program assists people around the world. Here is the last offering from the Christmas Bowl resource, looking at the work of the Christmas Bowl in Pakistan.
‘In drought-affected Umerkot, in Pakistan, girls like Anaya once had little chance to study. With support from the Christmas Bowl, she is now in school and dreams of becoming a doctor, inspiring other girls in her village to learn. In partnership with Community World Service Asia (CWSA) the Christmas Bowl is helping communities raise awareness and increase access to education – especially for girls. Displacement and poverty have left many families without schooling or healthcare, but mothers like Sunia are championing change. “When my daughter began attending school, other girls started their education too,” she says.
The Christmas Bowl sees this work as love in service, providing access to education and healthcare for underserved families, especially empowering women and girls.
Blessings, and thanks Peta – Heather Hon (she/her)
