Greetings …
On Saturday 11 November, like every year, there will be gatherings in communities all around the nation, in sacred spaces and around memorials, where people come together to remember the cost of conflict. And as we gather to remember, we accept that we all contribute to a world in which conflict, even today, still blights lives and futures.
And so a prayer for this time ….
We shall remember them, we do remember them,
God of peace,
all who have given their lives in times of conflict and war,
those who have served in our armed forces,
seeking to serve their country, and who lost their lives,
those whose lives were never the same because of their experience,
may we never forget.
As we gather in these places there might be names around us,
on memorial boards and plaques,
may we remember that each name was one of your beloved children,
that each name represents someone who had a history
and hopes and dreams for their future.
May we never forget.
Amen.
Blessings – Heather (she/her).
