Welcome to Koonung Heights Uniting Church

Greetings,

In light of our thinking about how we ‘do justice, love kindness and walk humbly’, I was interested to see a statement from Rev Charissa Suli, UCA President, which affirms the solidarity of the Uniting Church with a suffering Palestine.  The statement notes the situation of the Israeli hostages as well as the disproportionate suffering and long-standing oppression faced by Palestinians.

Charissa writes, ‘We cannot remain silent while bodies are crushed by bombs, children starve, and our Palestinian siblings in Christ fear for their very existence.  If we do not speak out, even the stones will cry out.  To remain silent would be to deny the truth of what we see, and can never give us a just peace.’

In situations half a world away, how might we do justice?  How are our hopes for justice matched by our actions?  These are tough questions to answer.  I encourage you to read the full statement at https://uniting.church/a-cry-too-great-to-ignore-statement-on-palestine-easter-2025/
